Measure 21-235: Veterans Service Office Five-Year Local Option Tax Ballot Question: Shall the County levy $0.035 per $1,000 of assessed value for Veterans Service Office operations for five years beginning in 2026? This measure may cause property taxes to increase more than three percent.
| Choice | Votes | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| YES | 7,029 | 50.07% |
| NO | 7,014 | 49.93% |
| Total | 14,043 | 100% |
Outcome: Measure 21-235 has passed with a narrow 15-vote margin (50.07% voting YES), securing funding for the Veterans Service Office amid ongoing budget debates. The measure crossed the 50% threshold needed for approval.
Note: Percentages based on votes reported on the measure (total 14,043). This final unofficial report reflects 100% counted, with totals rising from the prior fourth report’s 13,988 votes on the measure (where YES led by 20 votes at 97% counted). Under Oregon law (ORS 258.290), an automatic recount is required if the final certified margin is ≤0.2% of votes on the measure (under 28 votes here)—the current 15-vote margin would trigger one post-certification, but results stand as a pass unless it flips.

So the Total Ballots Cast= 14,070… but the Total Votes Counted= 14,043
So what happened to the votes from those 27 ballots? 🤔 Not to mention it’s only a difference of 15 ballots between the yes vs. no votes…seems kind of odd in my opinion! ❤️🇺🇸💙
This election smells to high heaven.
Once again ballots were received and added to the total after Election Day. Since when did this become the general rule of elections? Nothing should have counted after 8 pm on election night.
It feels very similar to an other election we had in Lincoln County where all of the ballots took almost 30 days to count and determine who won.
I think all of these ballots should be recounted and all signatures need to be verified.
