The following reports are taken directly from the Oregon State Police Logs. All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
May 11: Arrest for Driving While Suspended, Highway 101 near Milepost 156, Waldport, Lincoln County
OSP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 101 near milepost 156 in Waldport for traffic violations. The driver was found to have an Oregon driver’s license suspended at a misdemeanor level. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail.
Arrested: Matthew Aaron Spalding, 27, Oakridge. Charge: 811.182 Driving while Suspended or Revoked (DWS) – Misdemeanor (Cleared by Arrest – OSP). Vehicle: ZTF972 KIA Sport Black (used to commit crime).
May 13: Injury Crash, US Highway 20 near Milepost 15.5, Lincoln County
A single-vehicle crash occurred on US Hwy 20 near milepost 15.5. The westbound vehicle lost control on a curve on a wet roadway. The driver stated she was traveling 60-65 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. The vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment on the westbound shoulder, spun across the highway, went over another embankment, struck a tree, and came to rest upside down in Sams Creek in approximately two feet of water.
The driver was transported by Pacific West Ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital and treated for minor injuries. The vehicle was towed to Rowley’s Towing in South Beach.

May 13: Theft from Vehicle, US-101 and Salishan Hills Drive, Lincoln County
OSP received a report of a theft from a vehicle that occurred on April 20, 2026. The vehicle was broken down on the side of US-101 with non-functioning door locks and had been parked for approximately two hours before being towed. A camera was stolen from the vehicle during that time. No suspect information is available.

May 13: Injury Crash, NW US-101 and North Beaver Creek Road, Seal Rock, Lincoln County
OSP responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a red Nissan.

May 13: Speeding Citation Following Flee Attempt, US-101 and NE 31st Street, Newport, Lincoln County
OSP observed a black sport-bike type motorcycle traveling southbound on US-101 at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the motorcycle continued to flee and was last seen northbound from the intersection of 31st Street and Harney Street in Newport. The rider was later located. OSP determined the rider was unaware an attempt to stop had been made. The rider was cited for speed.

May 15: Injury Crash (Brake Failure), US Highway 20 near Milepost 1, Lincoln County
OSP responded to a single-vehicle crash on US Hwy 20 near milepost 1. The westbound vehicle experienced brake failure. The driver steered across the highway toward a berm just west of SE Norman Street. The berm stopped the vehicle without apparent damage. The driver and right-front passenger suffered minor injuries and were transported by Pacific West Ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. The right-rear passenger was uninjured. A dog in the vehicle was taken by Lincoln County Animal Control to the local shelter. The vehicle was towed by AAA via Roger’s Towing to Steens Master Lube in Newport.

May 16: DUII Arrest (Alcohol & Controlled Substances), SW Abalone Street and SE Marine Science Drive / US-101, Newport, Lincoln County
OSP stopped a black Infiniti Q56. The driver was found to be impaired and arrested for DUII. The driver was also charged with obstructing governmental administration.

May 16: DUII Arrest (Alcohol), NE Fogarty Street and US-20, Newport, Lincoln County
OSP stopped a bronze Subaru Forester near milepost 1 on US-20 and NE Fogarty Street. The driver was found to be impaired and arrested for DUII. Additional charges included reckless driving and reckless endangering a person (the passenger was listed as the victim).

May 17: Fish & Wildlife – Crabbing Violations, Lincoln County
Troopers were flagged down regarding a possible theft. During the investigation, a male suspect was identified. Consent was given to search a vehicle for reportedly stolen crab pots. The pots were not located, but 29 illegally retained Dungeness crabs were found. The suspect was criminally cited for three crabbing violations.
