Lincoln County — A 35-year-old Grand Ronde man died Thursday morning in a head-on crash on Highway 18 near milepost 1.
The Oregon State Police responded to the two-vehicle collision at about 10:10 a.m. on July 2, 2026. A gray Nissan pickup traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane and struck a blue Ford Maverick pickup head-on, according to the preliminary investigation.
Bryan James Anderson of Grand Ronde was driving the Nissan. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators reported that Anderson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Jenny Fiddyment Wiens, 63, of Salem, was driving the Ford Maverick. She suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The highway stayed closed for approximately three hours while officers worked the scene. North Lincoln Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted the Oregon State Police.
The OSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the fatal crash. The cause remains under review.
Highway 18 serves as a primary east-west route for Lincoln County residents and visitors traveling between the coast and inland areas. The extended closure created delays for local traffic.
