May 18, 2026 – Non-Injury Crash – U.S. Highway 20 near Milepost 4, Lincoln County
At approximately 3:54 p.m., OSP responded to a two-vehicle rear-end collision on US-20 near milepost 4 in the westbound lane. The driver of a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta moved into the oncoming lane to avoid stopped eastbound traffic and struck the rear of a 2003 Mercury Marquis, which had also entered the oncoming lane for the same reason. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Rowley’s Towing. The Jetta operator, Sahaylee Mason, 18, was cited for following too closely.

May 19, 2026 – Found Property – U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 138 Northbound, Lincoln County
A citizen turned in a Stihl chainsaw to OSP after watching it fall from an unidentified utility truck while traveling northbound on US-101 in Newport. The owner has not been identified.

May 20, 2026 – Explosives Call – 9530 NW Osprey Street, Lincoln County
OSP Explosives Unit responded to a residence where a recently deceased owner’s surviving partner discovered miscellaneous live ammunition, primers, and reloading powders. A bomb technician collected approximately 25 pounds of various ammunition and six partially full containers of smokeless powder (about 5 pounds). During sorting, two M-800 devices were found and secured for later disposal.
May 20, 2026 – Citation for Crime – Oregon Highway 34 near Milepost 1 Westbound, Lincoln County
A driver stopped for failing to display a license plate was cited and released for driving while suspended (misdemeanor) and driving uninsured.

May 21, 2026 – Commercial Fishing Violation – Lincoln County
A commercial salmon troll vessel was observed landing lingcod in excess of the allowed ratio for the salmon troll fishery and fishing inside the NonTrawl RCA. NOAA Law Enforcement was notified and the case will be referred to them for further action.

May 21, 2026 – DUII Arrest Following Crash – U.S. Highway 20 near Milepost 3.5 Eastbound, Lincoln County
OSP responded to a reported two-vehicle crash. Investigation determined the at-fault driver was operating under the influence of intoxicants and was arrested. Additional charges included reckless endangering, reckless driving, and Assault IV.

May 22, 2026 – Traffic Stop / Hazardous Load – U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 141, Lincoln County
While traveling northbound on US-101 near milepost 140, an OSP trooper observed a green Ford F-150 swerve and drop a roll of firewood plus several bundles of cut firewood onto the roadway. The trooper safely removed the hazardous material, located the vehicle on Southwest Hurbert Street, and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be driving while suspended (misdemeanor), driving uninsured, and operating with a sifting/leaking load. He was cited and released.

May 23, 2026 – Warrant Arrest During Crash Investigation – U.S. Highway 101 near Mileposts 153–154, Lincoln County
OSP responded to a two-vehicle crash near milepost 153 on US-101. During the investigation, one driver was found to have an active extraditable out-of-state warrant. The warrant was confirmed and the individual was arrested. A concealed handgun was discovered in the subject’s waistband; he did not possess a valid Concealed Handgun License and had prior felony convictions. The handgun was seized and the subject was lodged in jail.

May 23, 2026 – Injury Crash – East Highway 20 near Milepost 4 Eastbound, Toledo, Lincoln County
OSP was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 at milepost 4. The driver had been trapped inside the vehicle for approximately an hour. The trooper arrived at 5:08 p.m., photographed the scene, and requested Rowley’s Towing. The driver was transported to Samaritan Pacific Hospital.
The driver, identified as Sandra J. Peoples, 66, told investigators the vehicle had suffered a flat tire earlier in the week (spare installed by Ocean Tire) and that the tires had been “acting weird,” causing the steering wheel to shake. She lost control after hitting the shoulder, spun into the brush, and was unable to exit the vehicle. She had been traveling 40–45 mph and was stranded with her dog.

May 23, 2026 – Restraining Order Violation – U.S. Highway 101 between Angle Street and Lee Street, Newport
OSP stopped a black Dodge Durango near milepost 141 on US-101 in Newport. The driver was found to be in violation of a no-contact order and was arrested for Contempt of Court.

May 24, 2026 – Injury Crash (Vehicle vs. Bicycle) – U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 127, Depoe Bay, Lincoln County
OSP investigated a crash in Depoe Bay where a black Subaru was stopped in the southbound lane for pedestrian traffic. A cyclist ran into the rear of the vehicle, shattering the rear window. The cyclist was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
May 25, 2026 – DUII Arrest – Lincoln County
A VW Jetta driver was stopped for improper display of registration tags. Investigation revealed the driver was suspended, uninsured, had failed to install an ignition interlock device (IID), and had an active misdemeanor warrant from Deschutes County for failure to appear. The driver showed impairment, performed poorly on SFSTs, and provided a 0.02 BAC breath sample. A urine sample was collected for the Oregon State Crime Lab. The vehicle was towed to impound by Coast Towing.
