The following reports are taken from the Daily Log of the Oregon State Police. All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
April 10: Non-Injury Crash on US-101, Milepost 152, Seal Rock, Lincoln County Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a gray Subaru Forester near milepost 152. The driver, Gloria V. Baltazar Correo, 42, of Newport, reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed by Rowley’s Towing.
April 11: DUII Arrest on US-101, Milepost 155, Waldport, Lincoln County OSP stopped a blue Toyota Highlander near milepost 155. The driver, Tia Marie Bledsoe, 45, of Newport, was found to be impaired and arrested for DUII (intoxicants and controlled substances) and reckless driving. She was lodged after processing.
April 12: Reckless Burning, Criminal Mischief, and Disorderly Conduct at Drift Creek State Park, Lincoln County An adult male was arrested after setting a picnic table on fire and leaving a mess of beer cans and litter at Drift Creek State Park. Timothy Wallace Schmelzer, 64, was charged with reckless burning, criminal mischief II, disorderly conduct II, and offensive littering. Lincoln County Deputy detained the suspect before OSP arrival; Seal Rock Fire extinguished the blaze. Schmelzer was transported to and lodged in Lincoln County Jail. Oregon State Parks was the complainant.
April 12: Rollover Crash Involving Juveniles and Controlled Substances on US-101, Milepost 131, Lincoln County E-crash only A southbound 2020 Nissan Altima lost control on a curve near milepost 131, slid across the northbound lanes, and rolled over on the shoulder. The juvenile driver (17F) and two passengers (DeJuan Montreal Horton Jr., 19M, and Niara Roberts, 19F) were assisted by passing motorists and emerged largely unscathed. The driver was cited for failure to drive within lane and minor in possession of alcohol and marijuana in a vehicle; both passengers received citations for minor in possession of alcohol. Coast Towing towed the damaged gray Altima. Drug property was involved.
April 12: Non-Injury Crash on US-20, Milepost 15, Lincoln County A single-vehicle crash occurred near milepost 15 on Highway 20. The driver, Isaiah Matthew Alexander Becktold, 18, admitted speed and slick roads as contributing factors. No injuries were reported. The black Scion TC was towed by Rowley’s Towing.
April 12: Theft from Vehicle at Beverly Beach Pullout, US-101 Milepost 134, Newport, Lincoln County OSP is investigating a car clout at a gravel pullout near Beverly Beach. A rear passenger window was broken on a silver Volkswagen Passat and items were stolen. No witnesses or suspects. Victim: Daniel J. Jepson, 44, of Seaside.
April 13: Injury Crash on US-20, Milepost 1.5, Lincoln County E-crash only The driver of a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling eastbound crossed into the westbound lane and drove over the embankment near milepost 1.5. The driver, Annissa Rosemanda Apodaca, 31, was extricated by fire and EMS personnel and transported to the hospital in Newport. Coast Towing towed the white Tahoe.
April 14: Warrant Arrest During Search Warrant Service in South Beach, Lincoln County OSP assisted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office serving a search warrant for stolen property. Justin Lee Webber, 40, of Newport, was identified, detained, and arrested on multiple active warrants (two counts of Fail to Appear I and one Parole/Probation Violation). He was transported to Lincoln County Jail.
April 15: Two-Vehicle Crash on US-20, Milepost 2.5, Lincoln County E-crash Unit #2 (eastbound Honda Element, driver Steven Earl Brandel, 70, of Waldport) activated a left turn signal to pull into a westbound shoulder pullout. Unit #1 (eastbound Ford F-350, driver Joseph Raymond Vance, 45, of Newport, with passenger Steven Christopher Hobbs, 55, of Newport) attempted to pass on the left and struck the rear of Unit #2. No injuries; both vehicles were driven from the scene.
April 15: Injury Crash on US-20, Milepost 20.5, Lincoln County E-crash only An eastbound Honda CRV lost control on a curve near milepost 20.5, slid sideways across the westbound lane, and collided with a westbound Hummer H3. Both drivers (Jodi Gann, 39, cited for failure to maintain lane; Kenneth Jeffrey Lytwyn, 60) and the child passenger in the CRV were transported to the hospital in Newport by ambulance. Both vehicles (blue Honda CRV and black Hummer H3) were towed by Rowley’s Towing.
April 17: Felony DUI Arrest on US-101, Milepost 155, Waldport, Lincoln County OSP stopped a gray Toyota Prius near milepost 155. The driver, Andrew William Weisz, 59, of Waldport, was found impaired and arrested for felony DUI (intoxicants and controlled substances), reckless driving, and reckless endangering a person (unknown victim). The vehicle was towed by Coast Towing and Weisz was lodged in Lincoln County Jail.
April 18: Fugitive Arrest During Traffic Stop at US-101 & US-20, Newport, Lincoln County During a traffic stop, both the driver (Danyell Michelle Lewis, 48) and passenger (Michael Lee Schulz, 49) were found to have active warrants with extradition from Montana. They were arrested as fugitives from justice and lodged. The gold Dodge Car was towed by Coast Towing incident to arrest.
April 19: Injury Motorcycle Crash Avoiding Deer on Highway 18, Milepost 3.5, Lincoln County E-crash only The eastbound driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle lost control under panic braking to avoid deer crossing the highway. The bike fishtailed and slid across the westbound lane. Passenger Katie Marie Lindsay, 38, suffered a significant head injury and was transported by ambulance to Newport hospital. Driver Buddy Michael Lindsay, 37, was uninjured. The motorcycle was towed by a private party.
April 21: Non-Injury Crash into Guardrail on US-101 at Otter Crest Loop, Milepost 132, Lincoln County E-crash only A southbound 2013 Ford Focus attempted to turn onto Otter Crest Loop at excessive speed, entered a front-wheel slide, crossed the eastbound lane, and struck the guardrail head-on. No injuries. Driver Kacay Ramkissoon, 22, was cited for failure to drive within a lane. Rowley’s Towing provided a courtesy transport to the occupants (passenger Khefren Nestor Ramon, 22) and towed the silver Ford Focus.
These incidents highlight the range of calls OSP troopers handle daily along the Central Oregon Coast.
