The following reports are taken from the Daily Log of the Oregon State Police. All individuals charged with infractions or crimes are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
  • Oct. 12: Non-Injury Crash on SR-34 Near Milepost 15 (Westbound)
    A Toyota Corolla driven by Thomas Edward Smith, 69, spun out on a curve during heavy rain, struck a hillside and rolled, damaging ODOT reflective posts. No injuries reported; vehicle towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: Gavin Moody.
  • Oct. 13: Injury Crash on US-101 Near Milepost 130 (Southbound)
    A Nissan Frontier driven by Diego E. Gomez Sanchez, 20, lost traction while passing a truck on a curve, slid across lanes and down a slope, striking trees before rolling onto its side. Injuries occurred; vehicle towed by Rowley’s Towing. Complainant: Jackie U. Evans. Officer: Gavin Moody.
  • Oct. 13: Traffic Crimes Investigation on US-101 Near Milepost 151 (Southbound)
    A silver Honda CR-V fled from police in Waldport after observed violations. Investigation ongoing; vehicle owners include Mary Julia Marcyes, 72, and Steven Patrick Marcyes, 74; suspect: Ryan Steven Marcyes, 37, both from Auburn, Washington. Officer: Nathan Goodey Brooks.
  • Oct. 14: Multi-Vehicle Injury Crash at US-101 and Three Rocks Road
    A Honda Civic driven by James Carston Cowan, 59, failed to stop at a stop sign on Three Rocks Road, colliding with a northbound Honda CR-V driven by Abigail Treasa Paschal, 20, of Carmel, California, which was then pushed into a southbound Volkswagen Tiguan driven by Joan Dorothy Wilke, 76, of Neskowin. Cowan cited for failure to obey stop sign; drivers 2 and 3 hospitalized at Lincoln City Hospital. Vehicles towed by Car Care Tow Pro. Witness: Janet Lynn Palmer, 68. Officer: Joey Pollard.
  • Oct. 14: Lost Property on US-101 Near Milepost 165
    A key was reported lost near Yachats around 7 p.m. Log entry only. Complainant: Yaeyoung Kim Rigby, 38, of Highland, Utah. Officer: Nathan Goodey Brooks.
  • Oct. 15: Rear-End Injury Crash on Highway 18 Near Milepost 4 (Westbound)
    A Chevrolet Express van driven by Elliott Joseph Nelsen, 34, rear-ended a stopped Nissan van driven by Jose Fernando Weldon, 37, of Salem, while waiting to turn left. Injuries reported; both vehicles towed by Menefee Welding Repair and Towing. Weldon cited. Officer: David Peterson.
  • Oct. 16: Injury Crash on US-101 Near Milepost 161
    A Hyundai Venue driven by Lewin A. Holdiman, 79, of Florence, slowed for a left turn southbound when a Subaru BRZ driven by Stevan Carlos Solarez, 29, of Newport, attempted a pass and collided in the northbound lane. Injuries occurred; Subaru towed by Rowley’s. Solarez cited. Officer: David Peterson.
  • Oct. 16: Commercial Fish Violation Investigation
    Ongoing probe into the sale of an Oregon-prohibited fish species. No further details released; case updates pending. Officer: Maleri Cates.
  • Oct. 16: Single-Vehicle Injury Crash on US-20 Near Milepost 29 (Eastbound)
    A Ford Explorer driven by Lee R. Shetzline, 31, of Gresham, veered off the road into a tree after the driver passed out. Shetzline transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis; vehicle towed by Coast Towing. Officer: Mitchell Kanbara.
  • Oct. 18: Warrant Arrest on US-101 Near Milepost 155 (Northbound, Waldport)
    Mark Allen Tiemeier, 51, of Newport, arrested on a Lincoln County bench warrant for failure to appear (issued Oct. 14). Lodged at Lincoln County Jail; assisted by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. Officer: Mitchell Kanbara.
  • Oct. 19: DUII Arrest on SR-229 Near Milepost 29 (Northbound)
    Gina C. Cavanaugh, 51, arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants after erratic driving reported at US-20 and SR-229 intersection. She showed impairment signs, failed field sobriety tests and blew .22% BAC. Additional charges: reckless driving and reckless endangering (victim: Christopher Ray Steinhoff, 42, of Toledo). GMC towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: David Wertz.
  • Oct. 20: Non-Injury Crash on SR-229 Near Milepost 21 (Northbound)
    A Chevrolet Malibu driven by Keyonda Nichole Hernandez, 39, failed to negotiate a curve, skidded into a ditch and rested in brush. No injuries; passenger: Rachelle Lea John, 33. Vehicle towed by Coast Towing. Officer: Kelly Katsikis.
