A Nissan Frontier driven by Diego E. Gomez Sanchez, 20, lost traction while passing a truck on a curve, slid across lanes and down a slope, striking trees before rolling onto its side. A silver Honda CR-V fled from police in Waldport after observed violations. Investigation ongoing; vehicle owners include Mary Julia Marcyes, 72, and Steven Patrick Marcyes, 74; suspect: Ryan Steven Marcyes, 37, both from Auburn, Washington. A Honda Civic driven by James Carston Cowan, 59, failed to stop at a stop sign on Three Rocks Road, colliding with a northbound Honda CR-V driven by Abigail Treasa Paschal, 20, of Carmel, California, which was then pushed into a southbound Volkswagen Tiguan driven by Joan Dorothy Wilke, 76, of Neskowin. A Chevrolet Express van driven by Elliott Joseph Nelsen, 34, rear-ended a stopped Nissan van driven by Jose Fernando Weldon, 37, of Salem, while waiting to turn left. Gina C. Cavanaugh, 51, arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants after erratic driving reported at US-20 and SR-229 intersection. She showed impairment signs, failed field sobriety tests and blew .22% BAC. Additional charges: reckless driving and reckless endangering (victim: Christopher Ray Steinhoff, 42, of Toledo).
