True Stories of the Oregon State Police

The following reports are taken from the Daily Log of the Oregon State Police. All individuals charged with infractions or crimes are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

  • Dec. 22: Welfare Check on SR-18 near Milepost 8-9, A single-vehicle crash in the westbound ditch; driver Otto Chase Warner, 38, of Amity, was uninjured and arranged his own tow. Officer: Gregory Plummer.
  • Dec. 23: Towed Vehicle (Abandoned/Hazard) on US-101 near Milepost 135, A white Dodge Tacoma was towed from Moolack Beach access after being tagged for five days. Officer: Quinten Graves.
  • Dec. 23: Towed Vehicle (Abandoned/Hazard) on SR-18 near Milepost 6, A blue Ford Escape was towed after being abandoned for a week. Officer: Nathan Goodey Brooks.
  • Dec. 24: Theft at Cape Perpetua Visitor Center, Yachats, A stolen white 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was located running in the roadway; the owner reported a missing firearm and wallet. OSP searched the area but could not locate the suspect. The firearm was entered as stolen and the truck was released to the owner. Complainant Joseph Nilles, 51, of Florence; victim Kyle James Oakley, 33, of Florence. Officer: Cody Black.
  • Dec. 25: Citation – Driving While Suspended on US-101 near Milepost 145, A driver was stopped for a traffic violation and found to be suspended for misdemeanor DUII; Rhonda Marie Truesdell, 55, was cited in lieu of custody and arranged her own tow. Officer: David Peterson.
  • Dec. 25: Non-Injury Crash on US-101 near Milepost 152.5, A maroon 2015 Buick SUV left the roadway, jumped a driveway, struck a state sign, and came to rest in the shoulder; driver Shawn Michael McDonald, 60, of Yachats, was cited for Careless Driving. Towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: David Peterson.
  • Dec. 25: Non-Injury Crash at US-101 & SR-18, A white Jeep Cherokee was involved in a single-vehicle crash; driver Nathaniel J. Cribbs of Mill City was cited. Officer: Alexander Munsee.
  • Dec. 27: Non-Injury Crash at NE 123rd St. & NE Beverly Dr., north of Newport, A blue Chevrolet Aveo became stuck in the shoulder with minor damage (log only); towed by Rowley’s Towing. Complainant Devon Mann; property owner Lynn Marianne Mitchell. Officer: Gavin Moody.
  • Dec. 27: DUII – Alcohol on US-101 near Milepost 145, Newport, A gray Toyota Prius driver was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering after a driving complaint; Charles Edward Haniford of South Beach. Towed by Coast Towing. Officer: Alexander Munsee.
  • Dec. 27: DUII on SR-20 near Milepost 16, A gray Subaru Impreza driver was stopped for speeding and arrested for DUII; William Brackett Denniston, 40, of Corvallis. Towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: Gavin Moody.
  • Dec. 29: Non-Injury Crash at US-20 & Fruitvale Rd., Lincoln City, A silver Toyota Corolla lost control while turning and crashed through a guardrail; juvenile female driver (17) uninjured and arranged own tow. Officer: Jeremy Gray.
  • Dec. 29: Traffic Crimes – Driving While Suspended on US-101 northbound near Milepost 116, A driver was arrested for misdemeanor driving while suspended and lodged in Lincoln County jail; Alexander Wade Hudson, 34, of Depoe Bay. Towed by Menefee’s Towing. Officer: Kelly Katsikis.
  • Dec. 29: Non-Injury Crash at US-101 & Otter Crest Loop, Depoe Bay, A two-vehicle crash; a passenger was transported by ambulance but no injuries reported on scene. Drivers Dustin John Herrmann, 48, of Toledo, and Amanda Frances Teeter, 41, of Salem (citation issued). Both vehicles towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: Quinten Graves.
  • Dec. 30: Towed Vehicle (Abandoned/Hazard) in South Beach State Park, A black Mazda 6 was towed after being abandoned for several days. Towed by Coast Towing. Officer: Quinten Graves.
  • Dec. 30: Commercial Fishing Violation, A commercial Dungeness crab boat landed undersized crab; citations issued to Abel Dimas Orozco, 25, of Astoria; Toby Allen La Tour, 43, of Tillamook; Matthew Merritt, 41, of Bay City; Marti Duane Myers, 45, of Astoria; and Jetson Ramon Torres Serrano, 28, of Elma, Washington. Officer: Heather Van Meter.
  • Dec. 30: Non-Injury Crash on US-101 near Milepost 163, A two-vehicle rear-end collision; both vehicles towed by Coast Towing. Driver Timothy Dewaine Caldwell, 41, of Seal Rock; driver Raymond Richard Friesen, 38, of Veneta. Officer: Quinten Graves.
  • Dec. 31: Impound Vehicle on US-101 near Milepost 116, A gray Pontiac Vibe was towed to impound after the driver was found to be suspended. Towed by Car Care Tow Pro. Driver Angelina Thomas, 23. Officer: Kelly Katsikis.
  • Dec. 31: Impound Vehicle on US-101 northbound near Milepost 138, A white Chevrolet S10 was towed to impound after the driver was found suspended and the vehicle uninsured. Driver Katie Lynn Haner, 38. Towed by Rowley’s Towing. Officer: Kelly Katsikis.
  • Jan. 1: DUII – Alcohol on SR-18 near Milepost 12, Tillamook County, A driving complaint led to a crash; the at-fault driver was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, and Failure to Perform Duties of Driver in a Collision. Kiana Marie Williams of Ferndale, Washington. Both vehicles towed by Car Care Tow Pro. Officer: Alexander Munsee.
