LINCOLN CITY, Ore. — Stepping into Lincoln City City Hall reveals a bustling nerve center for this coastal Oregon community, blending municipal efficiency with showcases of local charm and upcoming events.
The tour provided a fresh look at the city council lineup and the building’s multi-level setup, underscoring its role as a key venue for governance and public engagement.
Mayor Susan Wahlke was at work in her office amid the day’s activities. The current city council comprises Kevin Hohnbaum and Rick Mark for Ward 3, Riley Hoagland and Marci Baker for Ward 2, Todd Barker for Ward 1, and Wahlke as mayor. Council member Mitch Parsons recently resigned, with no additional details available.
Kevin Mattias, the city’s public information officer, delivered thorough responses to inquiries. He explained that Police Chief Dave Broderick is acting as city manager pro tem as the search for a permanent appointee ramps up, with applications set to open shortly.
Hallways come alive with colorful posters from the Finders Keepers program — featuring hidden glass floats along the beaches for treasure hunters — paired with detailed maps of Lincoln City and overviews of departments like finance and public works.
Toward the hall’s end, the council chambers stand ready for sessions held on the first and third Mondays monthly.
City Hall resides on the third floor. Ascending to the fourth, Explore Lincoln City buzzes with tourism efforts, from the Kite Festival to Finders Keepers. Eye-catching art installations fill the area, and Cynthia Morgan, visitor center coordinator, shared highlights of seasonal happenings, spotlighting an upcoming night-flying twist on the kite festival.
Randy Gilman, lead maintenance worker for the building, shared his positive experience on the job. “It’s been a good job. I’ve been treated really nice,” he said.
Down on the second floor, the Driftwood Public Library hums with activity, its spotless shelves and stations drawing patrons to public computers, books and magazines.
Clean restrooms throughout enhance the building’s overall polished and welcoming atmosphere.
