NEWPORT — A man who led police on a high-speed chase was arraigned on 13 separate charges on Thursday, Dec. 12, in a Lincoln County courtroom. Judge Joseph Allison set bail at $200,000.
Lincoln Co. District Attorney Jenna Wallace said the criminal charges stem from a burglary and theft at Simply Storage in Waldport on Dec. 11, 2025. Surveillance video identified the suspect’s vehicle and description, with the driver later identified as Tyler Mullen of Vancouver, Wash. Mullen was later spotted in his pickup truck in the parking lot of Fred Meyer, but when police closed in he fled the scene in his vehicle, striking a car in the process.
Multiple agencies joined in the pursuit, laying out spike strips. With tires punctured or missing, the pickup finally crashed into a parked construction vehicle in Lincoln City. Construction workers were able to apprehend Mullen as he exited the vehicle and tried to flee on foot.
Mullen was taken into custody and charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Attempt to Elude a Police Officer and Criminal Mischief, including both felonies and misdemeanors. Mullen, on post-prison supervision for auto theft, is also wanted on a probation violation by the Oregon State Parole Board. Additionally, Mullen has over 30 arrests and convictions in Washington, California and Oregon.
Because of Mullen’s criminal history and the alleged behavior that put Lincoln Co. residents at risk, Wallace’s office has filed “Enhancement Factors” to allow for more severe penalties. No trial date has been set.
