Oven Mishap Ignites False Alarm at Taft 7-12

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. — A whiff of smoke turned into a sweet surprise Monday morning at Taft 7-12, where a batch of burnt brownies sparked a swift but short-lived fire response.

North Lincoln Fire Rescue dispatched two engines around 11 a.m. to the school at 3780 Spyglass Ridge Drive.

Radio chatter captured the moment’s levity: “We have a report of burnt brownies,” one dispatcher quipped, calling off the second engine before it could roll in. No injuries were reported, and classes continued.

Fire officials continue to stress basic safety measures: always set a timer when using ovens to avoid emergencies.

In the end, it was a half-baked emergency — short and sweet.
