The following reports are taken directly from the Oregon State Police Logs. All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
July 21, 2026 – FW – Marine Board – Newport and Pacific Ocean, Lincoln County On July 21 at approximately 1330 hours, Oregon State Police responded to a report of a vessel beached just south of Newport’s south jetty. A small recreational fishing vessel was in the surf line with waves breaking over the stern. Fog reduced visibility to as little as 50 yards. The operator and two passengers had safely waded to the beach. The operator reported he was returning to Newport from the south, saw a rock jetty wall, and also saw a boat on his starboard side. Assuming he was looking at the north jetty, he turned east thinking he was between the jetties. The vessel entered the breaking waves near the beach and grounded on south beach. The three people aboard waded safely to shore. The vessel was recovered by a tow truck.

July 21, 2026 – Crash – Injury – Highway 18, Milepost 6, Otis, Lincoln County OSP responded to a crash on Highway 18 near milepost 6. Two vehicles were towed from the scene and one individual was transported to the hospital.

July 22, 2026 – Explosives Call – 225 W Olive St, Newport, Lincoln County Log Only OSP was contacted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding agencies regarding ammunition and fireworks for disposal. Lincoln County also had four bolt-action rifles damaged in a fire that could not be visually cleared. OSP Bomb Techs recovered the following for later disposal: Lincoln City PD – 125 lbs fireworks and 2 boxes of ammo; Newport PD – 29 lbs ammo; Lincoln County SO – 3 milk crates of ammo and approximately a dozen disintegrating red phosphorus road flares. The firearms were x-rayed on scene but could not be cleared with absolute certainty. They were stored securely for later destruction. BATS ID# 1530438.

July 22, 2026 – Disorderly Conduct – US-101, Milepost 157, Waldport, Lincoln County Oregon State Police responded to a male walking in the highway. The male was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in Lincoln County Jail.

July 23, 2026 – DUII – Alcohol and Controlled Substances – US-101, Milepost 142, Newport, Lincoln County Oregon State Police stopped a red Honda CR-V near milepost 142 on US-101. The driver was found to be impaired, arrested for DUII, and lodged in Lincoln County Jail. The driver arranged for someone to pick up the vehicle.

July 24, 2026 – Impound Vehicle – US-101, Milepost 142 NB, Newport, Lincoln County A vehicle was stopped for several observed traffic violations. The driver was found to be driving while suspended and without valid insurance. The vehicle was towed for SB780 impoundment by Rowley’s Towing. The driver was released with several violation citations.

July 24, 2026 – Traffic Crimes – All Except DUII – Highway 20, Milepost 34 EB, Lincoln County A vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be criminally suspended. The driver was issued a criminal citation in lieu of physical custody and released.

July 27, 2026 – Sex Offense, All Except Rape – 52 NE 73rd St, Newport, Lincoln County An OSP Trooper contacted a subject at the OSP Newport Patrol Office to complete required annual sex offender registration. The subject was determined to be out of compliance for failing to complete annual registration within 10 days of his date of birth. The subject was cited and released for Fail to Report as a Sex Offender.

July 27, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – US-101, Milepost 147, Lincoln County (ecrash) Oregon State Police was dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle crash involving a red Volkswagen and a gray Toyota Tundra near milepost 147 on US-101. The red Volkswagen rear-ended the Tundra while it was stopped waiting for the car in front to turn. The driver of the Volkswagen was cited for following too closely. The Volkswagen was towed by Rowley’s Towing.

July 27, 2026 – DUII – Alcohol and Controlled Substances – Lincoln County At approximately 1546 hours, Oregon State Police was advised of a hit and run involving a Chevrolet truck bearing Washington license plate DV18792. While turning onto US-101 from SR-229, the suspected vehicle was observed. The driver was found to be DUII and lodged in Lincoln County Jail. BAC was .12%.

July 27, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – S 101 Hwy and SW Ellingson St, Depoe Bay, Lincoln County At approximately 1550 hours, Oregon State Police was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash. A 2007 Dodge 3500 rear-ended a Chevy Malibu near US-101 milepost 127. The Dodge driver was cited for following too closely. Neither vehicle was towed.

July 27, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – Highway 20, Milepost 3, Newport, Lincoln County OSP responded to a non-injury, single-vehicle crash on Highway 20 near milepost 3. A tree fell directly in front of the vehicle, which was traveling at highway speeds and was unable to avoid hitting the tree. A DMV crash report was completed and the vehicle was towed due to damage.

July 30, 2026 – Crash – Hit and Run – Highway 101, Milepost 147, Lincoln County OSP received a report of a hit and run at Lost Creek State Park near milepost 147 on Highway 101. No vehicles were towed and the investigation is ongoing.

July 30, 2026 – Impound Vehicle – Fir Ridge Rd and Spruce Ct, Lincoln City, Lincoln County Log Only At approximately 1924 hours, OSP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle observed with an expired trip permit. The driver was found to be driving with a suspended license and no insurance. The vehicle was impounded with assistance from Coast Towing.

July 31, 2026 – Recovered Vehicle – Oregon Department of Forestry land near Burnt Woods, Lincoln County Troopers responded to a report of suspicious activity. A citizen located a boat dumped off a logging road that had been previously reported stolen to the Dallas Police Department. Troopers located the boat and collected evidence from the scene for further analysis.

July 31, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – Highway 20, Milepost 16, Lincoln County E-CRASH ONLY At approximately 1552 hours, OSP responded to a reported rear-end type crash near milepost 16 on US-20. Westbound traffic was stopped for an unknown reason just past a curve. A Ford sedan traveling westbound did not react to the stopped traffic fast enough after rounding the curve and rear-ended a stopped Toyota SUV. The driver of the Ford was transported to the hospital due to previous medical history with possible minor injuries. Rowley’s Towing recovered both vehicles.

July 31, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – Highway 229, Milepost 27 NB, Lincoln County Log Only At approximately 2137 hours, OSP received a report of a single-vehicle crash near milepost 27 on SR-229. A Chevrolet truck struck a deer on the roadway. No injuries occurred and damage did not rise to a reportable level. OSP advised the driver on the necessary steps to salvage the road-struck deer.

August 1, 2026 – Custodial Interference – Pacific Ave and Sunset Dr, Pacific City, Tillamook County Log Only Tillamook County located a male who was in violation of a restraining order. OSP acted as cover officers. Custody and DHS arrival occurred after OSP departed the scene.

August 2, 2026 – Trespassing – Clem Road (Starker Properties), Lincoln County Log Only Troopers contacted three subjects (two adult males and one juvenile) exiting a Starker Properties gate on Clem Road. The subjects had been hunting the property on foot for black bear during the General Black Bear season. Investigation showed they did not have a permit to access Starker Properties. They were given a warning and educated on how to obtain a free permit. Starker was notified of the contact.

August 3, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – Highway 229, Milepost 28, Siletz, Lincoln County The Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle, non-injury, non-blocking crash. The involved vehicle struck an elk which was injured in the crash. Lincoln County responded and dispatched the elk. The vehicle sustained over $2,500 in damage but was drivable and the driver drove home after the collision. Due to no NPO Troopers on duty, the report was taken over the phone.

August 3, 2026 – Crash – Injury – Highway 101 and NW Bernard St, Lincoln County E-crash only A two-vehicle, minor injury crash occurred on US-101 near milepost 150 in the southbound lane. Unit #1, a gray 2012 Nissan Rogue, drove into the rear of Unit #2, a silver 2021 Ram 3500, which was stopped to make a left turn onto NW Bernard St from US-101. The Nissan Rogue was towed due to heavy front-end damage. The Ram was driven from the scene. The operator of the Nissan Rogue was transported to the hospital by ambulance and was issued citations for careless driving and driving while suspended.

August 3, 2026 – Pursuit – Vehicle – Highway 101, Milepost 141, Lincoln County OSP assisted Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office with a vehicle pursuit. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office arrested the subject after the vehicle crashed into a patrol car.

August 3, 2026 – Lost Property – Lincoln County At approximately 1625 hours, Oregon State Police was dispatched to a lost property call regarding a wallet lost at sea approximately 2 miles offshore.

August 3, 2026 – Crash – Injury – Highway 101, Milepost 136, Newport, Lincoln County At approximately 2002 hours, Oregon State Police was dispatched to a single-vehicle crash near US-101 milepost 136 involving a motorhome that was pulling a trailer. The motorhome had flipped on its side. The driver and passenger were extracted from the vehicle with suspected minor injuries and both were transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital. The motorhome and trailer were both towed by Mishler Towing.

August 5, 2026 – Crash – Non-injury – Highway 18 and N Deer Dr, Lincoln County Log Only – Non-Reportable Two-vehicle MVA near milepost 4. Vehicle #1 pulled onto Highway 18 from a private driveway and sustained a minor dent on the front right panel. Vehicle #2 was westbound on Highway 18 and sustained a long scuff mark on the driver’s side of the trailer. Both parties agreed to exchange information. Driver #1 admitted to pulling out in front of #2, was at fault, and was warned for failing to yield when entering a roadway.
