SALEM — Oregonians have until 6 p.m. Sept. 10 to weigh in on the state’s transportation priorities through a new public survey launched by Gov. Tina Kotek’s Rebuilding Transportation Vision Workgroup.
Feedback from the survey will help shape recommendations the workgroup is scheduled to deliver to the governor in December. Those recommendations are expected to guide how Oregon maintains and improves its transportation system, prioritizes limited dollars, and considers funding options.
“A critical part of the effort to meet the state’s transportation needs will be prioritizing and holding accountable the resources we currently have to keep providing the maintenance of our roads and bridges that Oregonians rely on,” Kotek said. “This survey creates another opportunity to hear from Oregonians about what the state should prioritize to make sure recommendations reflect their input.”
The workgroup reviewed the survey during its Aug. 7 meeting and added space for comments on each question to keep the process open and neutral.
“Experts from around the state are working to develop recommendations for Oregon’s transportation future, and we can’t do this effectively without giving Oregonians an opportunity to share their priorities for our transportation system and to be part of this process,” said workgroup co-chair Grace Crunican.
The short survey asks three core questions:
- What should Oregon’s transportation priorities be?
- How should limited transportation dollars be spent?
- What reductions would impact you most?
An optional question invites people to describe what a successful and well-managed transportation system looks like and what would give them confidence that public dollars are being spent wisely.
