In a significant step toward wildfire accountability, Portland-based utility giant PacifiCorp has agreed to pay $575 million to the U.S. government to settle claims tied to six destructive wildfires that scorched nearly 290,000 acres of federal land in Oregon and California from 2020 to 2022.
