Poaching impacts fish, bird and other wildlife populations in Oregon. Senior Trooper Quinten Graves of the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division and Yvonne Shaw, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, will share case stories, successful interventions, and penalties related to wildlife crimes. About the speakers:

Yvonne Shaw coordinates the Protect Oregon’s Wildlife- Turn In Poachers campaign for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Yvonne has directed public education campaigns across the U.S. and in New Zealand. A native Oregonian, she completed a BS at OSU and an MPA at PSU. Her grandfather was a commercial fisherman, who taught her to fish, clam and crab in Newport. Oregon’s coastal communities are near and dear to her heart.

Quinten Graves is a Senior Trooper with the Oregon State Police, assigned to the Newport Fish and Wildlife Team. He has been employed by OSP for just under 9 years. After two years assigned to patrol in Klamath Falls, he transferred to Newport. Initially assigned to the Marine Fisheries Team, Sr. Trooper Graves is now assigned to general Fish and Wildlife. Because his position is partially funded by the Oregon Plan, he is assigned to environmental cases such as Fill & Removal, Water pollution, etc. Outside of that, his days are spent enforcing hunting and angling regulations and protecting Oregon’s vast natural resources.
