Indigenous flute, didgeridoo, and Andean folk music anchor the second event of the free, three-night
Newport Summer Sound Series in Nye Beach

The City of Newport invites community members and visitors to Earth Tones, a free outdoor concert
for all ages on Friday, August 14 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Don & Ann Davis Park in Newport’s historic
Nye Beach district. The evening features Native American flute, didgeridoo, and Andean folk music in
the scenic setting of the Oregon coast and sunset.

Earth Tones is the second of three concerts in the Newport Summer Sound Series.
The performance line-up:

• Vince Redhouse opens the evening with a Native American flute performance, grounding the
program in the heritage of the Oregon Coast.
• Tyler Spencer carries the middle of the program with a didgeridoo performance — an ancient
wind instrument with resonant tones that invite reflection and stillness.
• Alex Llumiquinga Pérez and Chayag close the evening with traditional Andean folk music, a
lyrical bridge between the ancestral and the modern.

Positioned as a mindful coastal experience, Earth Tones is an invitation to experience Newport as a
sanctuary for the senses — a place where music, the landscape, and cultural heritage intersect. The
evening is family-friendly and welcomes everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and a
blanket to enjoy the show.

“Earth Tones is about slowing down and listening to the land, to each other, and to the artists who will share their cultures with us,” Newport Recreation Program Specialist Rebecca Scheller said. “Newport is the perfect place to hold that kind of evening, and we’re so happy to welcome everyone to this free event.”
